Terms of Service

Effective 2026-07-31 · United Arab Emirates

1. These terms

These terms are the agreement between you and Koma for your use of the Koma app and website. By creating an account or using Koma, you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use Koma.

2. Who can use Koma

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a contract where you live. Koma is offered to people in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. You may be able to reach it elsewhere, but it is not designed or supported for other markets.

3. Your account

You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email address. Koma never asks for a password, and never asks for your online banking login, card numbers, or bank account access.

Keep access to your email secure, because anyone who can read your email can sign in as you. Tell us at info@heykoma.com if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

4. What Koma is, and what it is not

Koma is a personal record-keeping and budgeting tool. You tell Koma what you spent, and Koma organises it around your pay cycle and shows it back to you.

  • Koma is not a bank, and holds no money for you.
  • Koma is not a payment service or a money transfer service. Koma never moves money. Recording that you sent money to family is a note you make, not a transfer Koma performs.
  • Koma does not give financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, and nothing in the app or from its AI assistant is a recommendation to do or not do anything with your money. Koma describes what you have recorded. Decisions are yours.
  • Koma is not connected to your bank and does not read your accounts. The figures you see are the ones you entered.

5. The AI assistant

Koma uses an AI model to read what you type and turn it into a transaction, and to answer questions about the records you have kept. Text you send to the assistant is processed by Google (Gemini) on Koma's behalf. Our privacy policy explains this in more detail.

AI can be wrong. It can misread an amount, pick the wrong category, or misunderstand a question. That is why Koma shows you a confirmation before saving anything it read, and why you should check it. You are responsible for the accuracy of your own records, and Koma is not liable for a decision you make on the strength of an AI answer.

Free accounts include a limited number of AI messages per pay cycle. Logging transactions manually is always unlimited. We may change these limits, and we will not reduce them without telling you first.

6. Koma+, payment, and cancellation

Koma's core features are free. Koma+ is a paid subscription that lifts the AI message limit.

  • Koma+ is sold as an in-app purchase. The Apple App Store or Google Play is the seller and the biller, not Koma. Your statement will show them, not us.
  • The price shown on our website is indicative. Apple and Google set the exact amount in your country and currency.
  • The subscription renews automatically until you cancel it. Cancel it in the store account you bought it with. Cancelling stops future renewals; your Koma+ access continues to the end of the period you already paid for.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies, not by Koma. We cannot issue a refund for a purchase we did not process.
  • New accounts get a free trial period with unlimited AI, as described in the app when you sign up. No card is required to start, and the trial does not turn into a paid plan by itself.

7. How you may use Koma

Please do not:

  • Use Koma for anything unlawful, or to record or plan unlawful activity.
  • Try to break, overload, probe, or gain unauthorised access to Koma or its infrastructure.
  • Use automated means to access Koma at a scale that degrades it for others.
  • Attempt to manipulate the AI assistant into ignoring these terms or its safety and compliance rules.
  • Copy, resell, or redistribute Koma or its content as your own product.

We may suspend or close an account that does these things, or that puts other users or the service at risk.

8. Your data and your content

The transactions, budgets, goals, and notes you enter are yours. You keep ownership of them. You give Koma permission to store and process them only so far as is needed to run the service for you.

You can export your data or delete your account and its data at any time from Settings inside the app. Deleting your account removes your data, and this cannot be undone. How we handle personal data is set out in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

9. Availability and changes

We work to keep Koma running, but we do not promise it will be available without interruption or free of errors. Koma depends on third parties, including hosting, email delivery, and the AI provider, and an outage at one of them can interrupt the service.

We may add, change, or remove features. If we make a change that materially reduces what a paid subscription gives you, we will tell you before it takes effect, and you may cancel through your store account.

10. Liability

Koma is provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, Koma is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits or savings, for loss of data beyond our reasonable control, or for decisions you take based on what the app or its AI assistant shows you.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid Koma for the subscription in the twelve months before the claim.

11. Ending this agreement

You may stop using Koma and delete your account at any time. We may end or suspend your access if you materially breach these terms, or if we stop offering the service. If we stop offering Koma, we will give reasonable notice so you can export your data.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will let you know in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Koma after that means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts of the United Arab Emirates have jurisdiction. If you use Koma as a consumer in another GCC country, this does not take away rights you have under the mandatory consumer law where you live.
